Ontario's Poverty Reduction Strategy
Ontario's release of the Poverty Reduction Strategy plan marked a bold new direction for Ontario and people experiencing poverty and hunger. The Ontario government committed to a concrete target of reducing child poverty by 25% in 5 years. That would mean reducing child poverty from about 12% of Ontario children to about 9% within 5 years, or about 90,000 children taken out of poverty.
Deb Matthews – the Minister of Children and Youth Services stated “It is going to take a lot of hard work. And it’s going to take all of us: citizens, governments, the business community, and the non-profit sector working together” Get informed!!
