John McCrae Senior Public School's Visit to Daily Bread

The students from John McCrae Senior Public School joined the staff and volunteers at Daily Bread Food Bank on Thursday, June 18th for the launch of our 2009 Who’s Hungry report. The students had a jam packed morning. They assisted in sorting out food donations for our clients in food banks across the GTA, sat in on our press conference, and some of them were even interviewed by local reporters about their school’s food drive.
We were impressed by the food donation the students brought in with them via public transit all the way from Scarborough. Leslie Richardson’s grade 8 class of 30 students brought in a total of 375 pounds of our most needed food items. The class had been working on a food drive for two weeks prior to their visit and felt it was important to personally bring in food donations with them to see the process the food goes through once it comes to Daily Bread.
